Toenails

It seems to me that I need to do a question and answer style post about toenails and losing them. I'm sure you all have your own experiences, so Ask and Answer away!!!!

(ugh in a search for a pic for this post, I found toes much worse than mine have ever been; can't even share that one with you...and i've gotta stop looking at toes on google images) Therefore I apologize for the lack of a pic.

Who needs toenails, anyway? ;)

BTW, I found press-on toenails at Walmart. I had no idea. They actually looked OK! This is for the just in case factor, that you need to dress up, wear strappy sandals and have your toenails look somewhat *normal.*

Have a great weekend!

I have an answer...prior to running the NY City Marathon, I globbed a TON of petroleum jelly (aka Vaseline) on and between my toes. Worked like a charm. No toenails lost, just one minor blister, and a completely pain free run.

Never lost one and the thought of doing so scares me!

One summer during training I had 4 difference toenails that turned black and eventually fell off throughout the summer .. it was awful (and not to mention painful).

There is something worse though, its losing the same toenail (or two) again the next summer. Your toenails are never the same again after losing them so many times .... (I eventually got a better pair of shoes with a wider toe-box, haven't had a problem since)

i got one purple toenail after my first marathon. it hung on for couple years (almost 3 actually) and probably only fell off because that particular foot got run over by a car.

i have a couple that turned white but they've just been growing out and a "normal"(-ish) one grows in its place.

This is really late, but I'll share anyway...While training for my first 1/2 marathon a few years ago, I lost three toenails. It looked pretty funny to be honest. I was most surprised by how little it hurt.

I'm down one nail now as a matter of fact.
